It is the living matter of which we are each composed and that, which when disturbed, can bring us to a gory end. But beyond that, flesh and blood is the very stuff that unites and links us as living creatures.

In an age of science, we are able to identify familiar links through a drop of blood and trace a person's history through a shard of bone. It is in the complexities of family relations, those who share their flesh and blood, that many of our writers have found inspiration.

Flesh and Blood tells of the workings of people that cannot be captured by science - their love and hate; their confusion and affection; their passions and mistrusts. Bound together by flesh and blood, these fifteen poems and stories say something about what it means to be human.
