Dark Pool Ripple

Mike Saunders draws out verse into long columns that sink gradually deeper into memories of money and power, probing the ways they propagate through every part of us.

In Dark Pool Ripple, Mike Saunders draws out verse into long columns that sink gradually deeper into memories of money and power, probing the ways they propagate through every part of us. Sometimes taut and scathing, at others reflective and tender, Saunders recreates the interference patterns and cross-phases of contemporary experience in poetry that is challenging in its synthesis of competing voices yet absorbing in its inescapable flow. Blending its imaginative, philosophical wit with haunting, sometimes troubling, images, Saunders’ work makes for essential reading on the complexities of global society.

Mike Saunders' poems have been featured in various journals, most recently Gutter, Valve, Datableed and Blackbox Manifold. A pamphlet, george clooney will always be handsome: towards a phenomenology of George Clooney, was published this year with If a Leaf Falls Press. His first play, Thank You for Being a Member of Our Global Community: Airbnb as Shallow Grave, has been performed with Poets' Theatre at Hidden Door festival, and as part of the 2016 Edinburgh Annuale. He lives in Edinburgh.
